Morgan Price is a reputable insurer providing personalized expat health insurance with extensive worldwide coverage for global citizens.
The Morgan Price Evolution plans are available to expats and locals up to age 74. Note that the Flexible Choices option is limited to those under 55.
All private insurance plans cover illnesses and injuries that require overnight hospitalization (inpatient cover). Most plans also offer optional coverage for routine outpatient care, maternity, or dental expenses. Inpatient benefits typically include room and board, surgeries and treatments, hospitalization, and emergency evacuation. Policies are managed on an annual basis—meaning you pay premiums for a year of coverage and the insurer pays for eligible expenses up to an annual limit. The Evolution option offers coverage limits up to $2,000,000, while the Flexible Choices option is capped at $500,000.
Morgan Price Evolution plans offer three coverage areas:
• Worldwide, excluding USA, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore
• Worldwide, excluding USA
• Worldwide
In addition, the Flexible Choices plans provide coverage in Southeast Asia, including countries such as Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
Private health insurance is a for-profit business, so individuals with pre-existing conditions are considered higher risk. Insurers use medical underwriting to assess risk and then decide whether to exclude certain conditions, impose an extra fee (called loading), or cover some conditions despite the risk, sometimes reassessing later. Some insurers offer a moratorium policy that excludes non-chronic conditions for about 2 years before covering them. Employer group policies may also waive detailed medical history requirements. Morgan Price Evolution offers both full medical underwriting and moratorium policies. Applicants with significant or chronic conditions may sometimes be denied coverage, while milder conditions are often accepted with loading.
Premiums are set on an annual basis and may increase based on factors such as past-year performance (premiums minus claims plus overhead) and medical inflation. Morgan Price’s plans operate on a community rating basis, meaning premium or benefit changes apply uniformly across the plan. Some insurers use an experience rating approach, which adjusts premiums based on whether individual claims exceed premiums. Your age is also a factor; as you get older and your health declines, your risk increases, which may lead to larger premium increases—especially if age bands are used, with bigger jumps every 5 years.
Morgan Price generally arranges a Guarantee of Payment (GOP) with international hospitals and clinics rather than using traditional direct billing. This means that payment for your treatment is managed between the insurer and the healthcare provider so that you do not have to pay upfront. Both inpatient and outpatient services can be handled with a GOP.
Although Morgan Price’s international health plans are based on an annual policy, some plans allow for periodic payments. For Morgan Price, if you choose to spread out your payments, the fees are as follows:
• Monthly payments incur an 8% fee
• Quarterly payments incur a 5% fee
• Semi-annual payments incur a 4% fee
Morgan Price Evolution offers group health insurance plans for employers, providing peace of mind to valued employees. There are two types of employer plans:
• Full Medical Underwriting (FMU), which requires each covered individual to provide their medical history for risk assessment and premium determination
• For larger employer groups, a policy that disregards individual medical history (MHD), which is the only way to cover certain conditions
Employers can set up FMU plans with as few as 1 employee and MHD plans with as few as 10 employees.
